About MJCarey Consulting

        MJCarey Consulting was created to help public and nonprofit organizations increase their capacity to serve others. MJCarey Consulting is able to assist organizations through sustainability planning, strategic planning, project management, project evaluation, grant planning, grant research, proposal-writing, and grants management.

        MJCarey Consulting Proprietor, Marsha J. Carey specializes in community organizational development, community partnerships, mental health and substance abuse service, prevention and intervention programs for youth, at-risk youth and families, law enforcement and community partnerships, Crisis Intervention Team projects, Veterans issues, housing programs and programs designed to bring stability to those in need. She has served as a Federal Project Director for a Weed and Seed grant in the Englewood neighborhood in Chicago, provided leadership for a community development project in Altgeld Gardens in Chicago, as a community liaison for Project Safe Neighborhoods and the Comprehensive Anti-Gang Initiative working with non-profit agencies providing prevention program partners with law enforcement through the U.S. Attorney's Office for Northern Illinois. Ms. Carey has also been a federal Project Director for a U.S. Department of Education School-based Mentoring Program and provided Grant Peer Review for Safe Schools/Healthy Students through SAMHSA; Mentoring Programs for At-Risk Youth through the U.S. Department of Justice; and the Second Chance Act Mentoring Grants for adults returning to the community through the U.S. Department of Justice.

        Ms. Carey assists organizations with the development of program outcomes and assuring for data-driven methods of continuous program improvement, and the ability to meet and exceed funder expectation with regarding to outcome reporting.

        Ms. Carey also provides services for faith-based initiatives and assists non-profits with fund development services by integrating professional fundraising strategies with professional grant development strategies including educating and developing board members regarding their role in fund development. She is creative, thorough, and knowledgeable regarding the field of fund development and a professional expert when it comes to grant research, matching prospective funders with the organizational mission, and writing comprehensive, persuasive, and concise grants.
